Let me just say straight away, I have never liked Micellar water, ever! I tried it, and thought I would never go back. When Garnier micellar water was first rolled out to the high street, it got rave reviews. The new skin care product was a hit! I like 90% of the female population, took it upon myself to try the new miracle makeup remover. When I initially tried it, I liked how you were in control of how damp your cotton pad was or wasn't. It stepped up to the challenge off removing the holy grail of foundations (Estee Lauder Double wear), and I liked how it made your face feel silky smooth. But, I did not like how after any risidule water dried out, it continued to dry some more. Within 5 minutes my skin felt tight and irritated. Of course after using the product, I would apply my nightly moisturiser, but it didn't matter, my face still felt tight and dehydrated. After using the micellar water for a couple of days it started to flare up my eczema. My eyes were itchy and sore, with the water irritating and stinging my raw exposed skin. This continued to happened every time I tried to use it.
I left the water and went back to my usual skincare routine, which allowed for my skin to revert back to normal, and for my eczema to calm down. I tried to revisit the product again, thinking that my skin may have been too sensitive at the time. I feel that my skin goes through cycles, depending on: how much water I drink, diet, exercise and products. The second time I tried it nothing changed. The same thing happened, each time I tried to use it and in the end I gave up and gifted it to my flat mate, who still uses it religiously to this day.
It was when I seen the new television advertisement and a stall in Boots that I became aware that there was a new, "Garnier oil infused delicate eyes and skin micellar water". I saw the add and the stall, and to my better judgment I thought it would buy it, and give it a go! I was intrigued by the new Micellar water because, and I'm quite ashamed to admit it.... the description. I know you're not suppose to fall victim to marketing and deliciously temping, well orcastrated adjectives, used to entice consumers. Well, I did, I fell for it! It has everything I was want in a skin care product. Oil infused, suitable for delicate skin, hydrates and comforts. All the buzz words that are desirable in a skin care product. The icing on the cake was the Gariner skin care stamp of approval "recognising Garnier's research into skincare". It gave me confidence that this product was dermatology tested, and might just work for my hyper sensitive skin. I've been using the product for a week now and my eczema hasn't flared up. The micellar water removes my makeup effortlessly. I always wash my face after removing my makeup, but when I use the micellar water, I feel like it's removes 80% of dirt on my face and pores. It smells great and I love the packaging. It's a product I would definitely recommend, and I feel it could be a potential contender to become a permanent commodity in my wash bag.
